Default Statistics vs. Machine Learning

When Watching the lectures, my mind is busy in two parallel processes of translating the materials: From English to my native language, which fairly easy, but also translating from the ML language to the Statistics language. I find the latter process amusing, but sometimes also confusing.

When I told it to a friend of mine, he pointed me to the following article by Brendan O'Connor of CMU: Statistics vs. Machine Learning, fight!

I think it's a good read.
