What are the prerequisites for this class?

I couldn't find it on the site and I would like to know what the prereqs are so I can learn them all after exams and then work on this course.

Basic probability, matrices, and calculus.

I would add 'knowledge of how to program basic algorithms'. This may be a given for the current generation of college students in a technical discipline, but has been a hurdle for me.

Yes learning to program in octave has been a real challenge. Even when I know what I want to do, the language is completely foreign and I still haven't figured out how to edit a program. One typing mistake means starting over.

Very much agree with the 2 comments above. Access to and knowledge of one of the math packages (Matlab, Octave, Mathematica, etc.) should be a prerequisite. :o
