Q1 - I don't get the answer

Why is the "+1" in the answer? I thought it would be only d since there are d dimensions in the data.

The bias

is part of the QP problem, although it is not part of the objective ${1 \over 2} {\bf w}^{\rm T}{\bf w}$ . This is because

is part of the constraints, and its value affects the values of the ${\bf w}$ variables in the constraints, hence it affects the objective through these variables.
